KCC is part of a network of partner organizations within the GPS \/ Global Practice Sharing program, implemented by Movement Research. The program serves as a platform for the international exchange of ideas, processes, and reflective practices related to dance and movement forms. It connects performing arts communities in the United States and around the world. GPS is founded on the belief that dialogue rooted in diversity is essential for generating new knowledge and artistic innovation. By investing in the mobility of artists, curators, and cultural workers, GPS promotes intercultural understanding and the development of contemporary art. Officially established in 2016, GPS has built an informal network of partners supporting exchange projects in Central and Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024: Residency of mayfield brooks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the GPS program in 2024, mayfield brooks undertook an artistic residency at the Krakow Choreographic Centre \u2013 Nowa Huta Cultural Centre. During their stay in Poland (18\u201331 October 2024), mayfield led an open class and a two-day creative laboratory. In addition, open improvisational practices were held and were accessible to all interested participants. The meetings took place in various locations across Nowa Huta, including the Nowa Huta Meadows and the area surrounding the Nowa Huta Reservoir. The presence of mayfield also benefited our permanent educational groups. Throughout the residency, mayfield were accompanied by performer Camilo Camar and video artist Chagua Camacho-Olgu\u00edn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second part of the project was an artistic residency in Gda\u0144sk, which concluded on the beach of Sobieszewska Island with the performance The Choreography of Whales: an Interspecies Love Story<\/em>. The work is part of mayfield\u2019s ongoing project Whale Fall<\/em>. The performance was followed by a discussion with the audience, including third-year students of Arts Institutions Management from the University of Gda\u0144sk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
