We are waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In his drama \u201cWaiting for Godot\u201d, Beckett created absurd situations of extreme waiting in a world where movement has essentially completely disappeared. A world in which the only component is the lasting of exhausting eternity. In a world where a person\u2019s freedom, development or sudden success is natural, waiting means a lack of interest or even numbness. And yet, we cannot avoid it. Waiting creeps into our personal lives, our daily lives. We keep waiting. And what are we actually waiting for? What is every one of us waiting for? Where does stagnation of an individual begin and where does our existence disappear in political powerlessness, social ignorance or conscious rejection? When does this apathy caused by waiting start bothering us? And is a breakthrough moment, a sort of catharsis, possible in this apathy? We keep waiting. In principle: I am waiting. You are waiting. He is waiting. She is waiting. We are alone in waiting. We are forced to face this state in solitude. The best that can happen to us is for another person to make us snap out of it. It is easy to get lost in waiting, drowning in dreams or daydreaming. Others become carte blanche then, onto which we freely project our fantasies provoked by our inactivity, our mind in a state of being asleep. At this moment of lethargy, boredom, impatience, and nervousness \u2013 is there space for lightness, humour, touch or joy? The actors are immersed in a state of immobility, lost between waiting and expectations. The audience remains in this state together with them \u2013 unable to recognise whether they are waiting for something themselves or, just like the characters, have already got lost in the depths of thought.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
